Born in Moscow, Katia Skanavi  has been impressing audiences, critics and fellow performers alike with her vibrant pianism and sensiitive musicality. She is a favored partner of musicians of the calibure of Yuri Bashmet, Gidon Kremer and Kurt Masur both as a concerto soloist and a chamber musician.

She has won major prizes in the Van Cliburn, Concours, Maria Callas,  and Margueite Long-Jacque Thibaud international piano competitions. She has performed throughout the world including the Musikverein in Vienna, Coucertgebow in Amsterdam, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Salle Gaveau and Theatre des Champs-Elysees in Paris as well at festivals such as Schleswig-Holstein, Gidon Kremer's Lockenhaus, Ravinia’s Rising Stars sereis, Gilmore International Keyboard, Prades, Oslo Chamber Music and Yehudi Menuhin's Wiener Klangbogen. 

She has appeared as soloist with the San Francisco Symphony, Moscow Philharmonic,  Houston Symphony, Monte-Carlo Philharmonic, Moscow Soloists, Holland Symfonia, Orchestre National de France, and Indianopolis Symphony. She has five CDs on the French label Lyrinx and her Chopin recording on the Pro Piano label was named “Classical CD of the Month.”
