Many people that participate in the CCDA exam with unpractical expectations often end in failure. Many of them have misperceptions:

• The certification of CCDA is the only way for me to get a job in the IT industry,;
• The CCDA certification is a golden key for my success;
• Once getting the CCDA certification, I will get my dream job;
• CCDA is the rule of IT industry;
• to be a CCDA is so benifical......

Does CCDA certification really play such a big role? Perhaps misinterpreted what is certification would have unrealistic expectations.

In fact, certification exams, Cisco 640-863 for instance, are designed to check candidates’ knowledge of a certain software, the logical thinking ability, and the capability of resolving problems. However, almost all customers and employers want you to have a wealth of experience and skills. And the certification examinations are not working experiences.

In addition, the exam of 640-863 mainly concerns the technical skills, but it is impossible only to depend on the skills to succeed in the IT industry. Therefore, if you wanted to achieve success in the IT industry, you should master not only certain skills but much other knowledge – interpersonal relationships, negotiation skills, teamwork and so on.

All in all, you should have a clear idea in your mind and then go for the test, with the sufficent time and resources to complete it. You may get more practical experience from the media, the Internet or even your boss.
